ABOUT

SARAJEVO MIND-MAP

Henri Lefebvre once wrote: Urban space is a social product.
How much can individuals influence a city?
Can the society of Sarajevo believe in the importance of its actions?

The Sarajevo MindMap is an interdisciplinary project about memory and the urban space of Sarajevo. It aims to reinforce the cultural, historical and social importance of Sarajevo in the context of European, and also to encourage citizens' participation in- and positive reflection on- the local environment. To watch PROMO of Sarajevo Mind Map project please click here.

The project outcomes will be:  a dance-video performance; documentary film; exhibitions (one the results of community projects about urban space, collections of photos and drawing od Sarajevo made by people from Sarajevo); conduct network of dance, theatre and film workshops directed to the citizens of Sarajevo; community-involving performances throughout Sarajevo's urban spaces. We also aim to create- and make available online- an alternative tourist guide/map of Sarajevo in the form of a custom-made software product, based on places chosen by the project's participants.

In order to do it we aim to create an interdisciplinary art platform that is open to intercultural dialogue with local community and offers an exchange place between artists coming from different countries, and various artistic and professional fields, who are interested in exploring the urban space (dancers, musicians, filmmakers, video artists, documentary flmmakers, computer scientist (software specialist), graphic artists). We aim to to actively involve the local community in artistic process by workshops, performative actions in the urban space, community projects, interviews. The working period is planned from July until September 2015.

GOALS:

-to create an artistic links between the city space, its history, cultural heritage and subjective inhabitants reflection;

-to encourage citizens participation and active reflection on local environment as well as on European identity;

-to foster positive and perspective thinking about Sarajevo and Bosnia;

-to spread knowledge and awarness of Sarajevo's multicultural society, tradition, its historical value and political importance for European past and present.
